Problem:

Stress and burnout are major problems in the workforce today. Compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic and an overdue awakening on systemic racism, the healthcare and human services sectors have been disproportionately impacted. For front-line workers (physicians, nurses, ER staff, therapists, and social workers), the constant emergency response mode, ongoing stress, and the lack of self-care are job-related hazards. Additionally, healthcare organizations and systems need to consider burnout's impact on the bottom line --from lost productivity, turnover, medical liability, and defensive medicine costs. The cost of replacing a single physician is $500k on the low end and the total cost of physician burnout turnover is $4.6B/year.

Solution:

Due to the pandemic, we are all familiar with the importance of PPE or personal protective equipment. wellmarkt is PPE for burnout prevention and emotional well-being. We connect employees in high stress roles to their personalized support team of coaches and wellness professionals and on-demand digital resources for self-care. Unlike traditional EAPs and 88 percent of the corporate wellness market, we address all six dimensions of wellness promoted by the National Wellness Institute. wellmarkt is an SEM or SaaS enabled marketplace. Our platform effectively brings together providers and corporate wellness program clients through customized search with smart matching, high quality content, and network effect boosting social tools.

Market:

Our customers are SMB and enterprise across a variety of sectors. We monetize through transaction fees (commission-supply-side) and SaaS subscriptions (demand-side/supply-side). Our initial focus is on healthcare organizations and clinics due to the acute need presented by COVID-19 at this time. We anticipate launching our first pilots in major Texas cities: Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Supporting healthcare workers is the right thing to do -- and it also makes financial sense.

Traction:

wellmarkt has achieved MVP, launching a private beta in Austin, TX. We are continuing to build awareness about coaching and wellness modalities on our platform through the creation of high quality digital content and social media promotion. We have month-over-month growth (125%) in prospective customers who have expressed interest in our platform, and we have qualified leads from large enterprise organizations. We are continuing to add coaching companies, individual coaches, and wellness providers to our network. Our next step is to pilot our offering with our first SMB/enterprise customers and subscribers and deliver recurring value. Our revenue target is to reach $4.3M by the end of Year 2.

Origin Story

Scriptly Rx

Over 150,000 Americans, both uninsured and insured, will struggle to keep up with the rising costs of medications. Costs have increased due to the hidden fees that pharmaceutical use to drive up profits on the backs of consumers. Scriptly Rx is the first technology platform that provides access to affordable, transparently priced medications. This means that our platform does not charge any hidden fees and does not contribute to the rising cost of medications that has plagued our health care system for decades.

Problem:

Pharmaceutical Benefits Managers (PBMs) are the unseen players that attach hidden fees to Rx medications in order to boost their profits. These hidden fees are not charged to the patient directly, but rather to the pharmacy, Medicaid, employers, etc., leading to rising drug costs for the patient. As a result, over the last decade, the cost of Rx medications soared on average THREE TIMES FASTER than inflation and has left over 150 million Americans struggling to afford their medication at some point this year. We are seeing a record number of Rx medications not being filled due to cost, and we want to tackle this challenge.

Solution:

How you save is just as important as how much you save. That's why Scriptly Rx has created the first technology platform that provides access to the most affordable, transparently priced medications for both uninsured and insured patients. This means that when a patient uses Scriptly Rx to find their medications, they can be certain they are using a platform that does not charge any hidden fees.

Market:

Scriptly Rx is available to all residents in the U.S. Our general savings platform is designed for uninsured and underinsured patients and can be accessed via the Scriptly Rx website or our mobile app on the iOS and Android app stores. The Scriptly Rx platform is now available for insured patients, addressing the needs of the 40% of insured patients looking outside of their current benefits for medications they can afford. We work with employers to plug into their existing benefits to expand access to affordable medications for their employees.

Traction:

Through 2019, Scriptly Rx has helped generate over $2,000,000 in savings for patients across nearly 2,000 US cities.

Origin Story

Sanara

Sanara which means “you will heal” in Spanish, was born in 2019 out of necessity by its founder, Rebekah Jasso Jensen. As a psoriasis sufferer during her teen years, she was determined to take back control of her own skincare. She started by educating herself on the ingredients she was putting on her sensitive skin, and the process evolved to creating her own body nourishing products. Her heritage and family ties to Latin America opened her eyes to the under-utilized pure ingredient goodness used by so many of its beautiful people. Rebekah turned her passion for plant-based, holistic skincare into her own personal mission to help others gain supple, healthy skin through naturally healing botanicals native to Latin America.

Problem:

The Latinx community is underrepresented in the clean beauty and spa product markets. This lack of voice has resulted in few skincare options, especially for those with special conditions or sensitivities.

Solution:

Sanara is a thoughtful, plant-based skincare line celebrating and utilizing indigenous Latin American botanicals. Our ingredients are proudly sourced in Latin America and are shedding an authentic light on the local secrets to healthier skin that have been used and tested for centuries. It is our mission to provide natural healing skincare products that benefit the entire body (even sensitive skin) so you can renew, re-energize, and re-build your glowing self from head-to-toe.

Market:

Sanara's customers are women with an age range from 30-45. We are direct-to-consumer via e-commerce as well as B2B focusing on the spa market for both treatments and retail.

Traction:

We launched in October 2019 and have generated $13,000 in revenue from January to June 2020 despite the challenges of COVID. Sanara has 610 people on its mailing list,1856 Instagram followers, and 412 followers on Facebook. Our target is to make $50,000 in revenue in 2020.

Problem:

For something we've done for 20,000 years, growing your own food is weirdly difficult to do. Not only is the information tribal, fragmented, and inconsistent, there's no easy way to get all of what you need, and virtually no post-purchase support.

Solution:

Enter Gardenio: a new kind of garden club for new food growers. We send you everything you need to grow your own food in small outdoor containers every three months with an app and community to support you as you grow.

Market:

The lawn and garden market is bigger than it's ever been – $52B – and the growth is led by folks, 18-34 (Millennial / Gen-Z), who are spending the most on food gardening. Our customers live in major metro areas, are tech savvy, lean liberal (consuming content like podcasts, Spotify, Netflix), and care that the brands they support stand for something meaningful.

Traction:

We just finished our first season with 100 paying members (~$20/mo, 57% retention). We've brought on several advisors from major direct-to-consumer brands.

Marketing & Partnerships (25%)

Evaluation (25%)

Funding supports refining wellmarkt's MVP from pilots and bringing the product to a broader market; acquiring SMB+enterprise customers; securing strategic partnerships (healthcare organizations, benefits consulting companies, insurance plans for risk reduction incentives); and improving KPI's (MRR, MAU, CAC payback period).

Funding & Impact

How we'll use it

Partnership Development (100%)

Funding supports our goal of generating 200 community partnerships in the 12 months following this campaign. Through these partnerships we want to get 800,000 savings cards into the hands of the people who need them the most. Within the first year of these cards being distributed, we can create a savings impact of over $25,000,000 in our communities. Working with partners helps to ensure that the message regarding the importance of pricing transparency ("how they save") is central to the long-term affordability of Rx medications. Ultimately, we want our patients to have the economic power to push against the traditional system that has left millions without affordable Rx medications.
